When a dog bites and causes serious harm or injury– or especially, when a dog ‘attacks’– the results can be dramatic and traumatic. Often, injuries resulting from these attacks require specialty treatment, extensive surgeries, and even reconstruction in many cases. There may also be the issue of lost wages and/or pain and suffering / mental anguish.
A pet owner is legally liable for his / her pet.
Even if an animal owner does not have specific insurance that covers animal or dog bites or attacks, you are still entitled to bring a legal claim against the animal owner to recover any damages. We know it can be hard to file such a claim or suit–especially if the owner is a friend or family member– and we will only fight to the extent with which you’re comfortable. Do just keep in mind, the animal owner responsible for your bite or attack doesn’t pay your medical bills (which can be huge), doesn’t compensate for your lost income (which can be significant) and doesn’t live with the emotions or trauma you might experience. You bear that weight alone. But we will help.
The legal team at Adamson & Cleveland will be here for you if you or a loved one has been attacked by a dog or other pet. We will guide you through your options and help you make a decision you can live with, that also ensures you aren’t suffering major losses for something that wasn’t your fault.
